'Tallahassee All Together' was nothing but propaganda Letter to the Editor Tallahassee Democrat, 12/4/2020 TPD is committed to a robust social media campaign, not a transparent examination, as they would like us to believe. It disappoints me to see a city commissioner uphold that manufactured facade rather than work towards true change in how TPD operates. Commissioner Williams-Cox states she worked 'hand-in-hand' with the city manager to create this event. That is like working with the wolf to re-educate sheep. Local groups have called upon the commission to seriously review the city manager and police chief. But most commissioners support him rather than see how our city manager facilitates police violence. The same people who exacerbate racial tensions are now leading a show of how to improve them? A 'dialogue' requires interaction and this online summit provided none. I attended two sessions: I could not see anyone but the speaker, couldn't see or chat with attendees. Questions were filtered by city employees to create the cheeriest generic answers. Officers could be overheard mocking the severely curtailed interaction with attendees prior to one segment. 'Criticism without a willingness to be part of the solution does not result in progress,' she wrote, and I agree. Our city refuses to take constructive criticism that might put into action the change people want. - - - Margaret Moore, Tallahassee, margaretkmoore@gmail.com
